Green Gen Recycling, a recycling company founded in 2010 in Riverdale, Ga is set to start their campaign for their "Recycle Riverdale" project at the beginning of the new year. Specializing in the collection and redistribution of cardboard(or in industry terms, Old Corrugated Cardboard), the home based company decided to use the popular site Kickstarter.com, to help fund the project. The projects' main goal is to promote art, creativity, awareness, and sustainability by painting murals on the recycling containers used for collecting the cardboards. The containers will be placed around the city at numerous local businesses including gas stations, convenient stores, shopping centers, etc.
There have been similar projects across the country converting dumpsters and recycling bins into murals to be placed throughout their cities including The College Park Partnership in Orlando and The Arts and Culture Alliance in St. Lucie, both in Florida. The Can Art project in Albany, Ny, the Trash Can Art in Coachella, Ca and the similar project by Jacob Schmidt in St. Louis, Mo all have been converting trash cans, dumpsters, and recycling bins into murals as part of local beautification programs.
For supporting the project, pledgers will receive rewards based on the amount pledged, which will be delivered once the goal amount has been successfully met. The project is an extension of the larger "Recycle Clayton County" program painting murals on the recycling containers that will expand to other Clayton County cities like Jonesboro, Morrow, Forest Park, Lovejoy, etc. For more information about the project, you can visit them on
