One Direction will kick off the North American arm of their Where We Are Tour on Aug. 1, 2014 at the Rogers Center in Toronto, ON, the boy band announced on Tuesday, Nov. 26. "We simply can't wait to be back in North America touring and to see our fans," Niall Horan says on behalf of fellow band members Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. "It's going to be absolutely huge!"
The 21-city tour is being promoted by Live Nation and presented by Nabisco, with additional dates to be announced at a later time. Tickets went on sale Saturday, Dec. 7. The Pre-sale tickets went on sale Dec. 3 and are available to Citi card members who RSVP via Facebook. The Where We Are Tour is the third headlining stadium concert tour by the boy band. The tour was announced by the band during a press conference on May 16th, 2013, at Wembley Stadium and is set to visit arenas and stadiums in North and South America, and European Countries from April through October 2014. The concert tour is set to kick off on April 25, 2014 at Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, Colombia.
The group's debut studio album Up All Night was released in November of 2011 and topped the charts in sixteen countries with leading singles like "What Makes You Beautiful", "Gotta Be You," and "One Thing." The band's second studio album Take Me Home was released in November 2012. The record sold 540,000 copies in its first week in the US and went to number 1 in 35 countries. The album's lead single, "Live While We're Young", became One Direction's highest charting song in a many countries. One Direction's third studio album, Midnight Memories, was released on 25 November 2013. The album was preceded by its lead single "Best Song Ever" and its critically acclaimed second single "Story of My Life". The album was a commercial success, debuting at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart and the Billboard 200 which prompt the world tour.
